What is a DPF?
The particulate filter collects soot from the engine
A DPF is the car's diesel particulate filter. It's part of the exhaust system and its job is to collect soot particles, so emissions are reduced. Under normal conditions the filter is cleaned through regeneration, but that doesn't always happen as it should.
If the filter becomes too loaded or clogged, it can affect the whole car's performance. That's why it's important to react in time, so the problem doesn't turn into bigger, more expensive repairs.
